Make Money Investing In Real Estate

My mom and a friend of hers actually used to do this when I was a young adult. They would go to tax auctions, research the property first, and then buy, fix, rent and or sell the properties. They made a very nice supplemental income, and when my mom became disabled the properties were her source of income. She has since sold them all, but it was a nice investment for about 15 years.

Healthy Thursday: The Benefits of Drinking Water

My sister owns wrinkle puppies. Aren't they the cutest things you have ever seen? Of course not everyone will agree, LOL! I have never seen wrinkles look so good.

Anyway it is Thursday, and that is the day I get to blabber on about things I find healthy, or interesting about health. A month ago or so, I saw a very interesting report on the news. It stated that drinking 8-10 ounce glasses of water per day showed no health benefit, as opposed to any other drink of the same amount. So that made me think, and I personally think that is not accurate. Here are my thoughts why:

1- Water has zero calories. So drinking an 8 ounce glass of water is much different than drinking soda, milk, or even coffee unless it is black.
2- Water is pure and moves through your system quickly. With no additives or caffeine, it increases your kidney function without all the wastes of other drinks. I personally find water to be very effective in cleaning out my kidneys. It moves through my system much faster than any other drink out there.
3- Water is essential for all the homeostasis or balance that your body needs. Other drinks may have sodium or caffeine in them, which can disrupt the balance of the body causing dehydration, irritability, or cramps.
4- If you take a lot of narcotic pain medication, due say to an injury, constipation is a huge problem. To naturally soften the stool and aid in the movement of the bowels, increase your water intake. It is a natural softener and lubricant. Obviously if adding water or any liquids to your diet is contraindicated by another medical condition this would not be a good idea for you to do. Always speak to your medical care provider before making any drastic changes to your diet, and that includes fluid intake.
5- If you are dieting or trying to lose weight, drink a full glass of water before you sit down to eat. This will fill you up faster and tell you stop eating before you can over eat.

I think water is wonderful!

Healthy Thursday: Kicking The Soda Habit

As some of you who read this blog know, that on Thursday I focus on healthy things to change your life. I have been trying to give up Pepsi for sometime now. I have my good weeks, and bad weeks, but can proudly say that if I have a Pepsi, it is never more than one a day, and I am hoping to make it just a few times a week. As anyone knows giving up something completely cold turkey is not successful.

So some things I have been doing when I am craving a Pepsi is to eat watermelon, or drink Lipton diet green tea. I like the berry mix the best. Green tea has other health benefits as well, but I will save that for another post. Watermelon is mostly water, but gives soothes the sweet cravings I get for Pepsi. I try to keep it on hand all the time, especially this time of year. The Lipton diet green tea has no calories, but is sweetened. I think I can conquer this Pepsi habit once and for all , by the end of summer.

Do you have something you want to give up? Have you been able to do it and how?
